The Ein Harod Apiary was established 80 years ago in Kibbutz Ein Harod Apiary, located in the Jezreel valley near Harod spring, the biblical site of Gideon's spring. A Kibbutz is a communal form of settlement devised and developed in Israel. The social fabric of a Kibbutz settlement consists of a closely-knit community that strives for a cooperative, just and productive way of life. The original Ein Harod Apiary Kibbutz settlements, established in the early 20th century, were agriculturally oriented. Today, although most Kibbutz settlements are still extensively involved in state-of-the-art agriculture, they are also involved in industry, technology and tourism/hospitality.
