StalkMarket was started in 2003 to provide an environmentally and economically viable alternative to traditional single-use paper- and plastic-based products. StalkMarket's core line of products is made from a sugarcane fiber-based paperboard. he material is made from upcycled sugarcane waste recovered from sugar refineries. The crushed stalks are taken to a processing plant where they are converted into paperboard in much the same way as wood pulp is used for cardboard. Bagasse can be molded in to a variety of shapes and continues to be used in many of our products. StalkMarket began using Ingeo® biopolymers from Nature works. Ingeo polymer is similar to hydrocarbon-based thermoplastics with one very important difference – it is made from plants instead of oil. Ingeo polymers are used in StalkMarket’s Planet Plus and Jaya product lines.
